In December 2015, The UN General Assembly decided to establish
“International Day of Women and Girls in Science” celebrated on 11 February to recognize the
importance of women and girls in Science. The celebration of this day provides an opportunity to
promote gender equality which is one of the 17 goals under the United Nation’s Sustainable
Development Goals of 2030.
